A new decade is just beginning and the Overwatch League is taking off sprinting with new format changes. Teams will be traveling around the world to compete this year so team structure is much more vital to team success than it has been in previous seasons given the stress that will undoubtedly come with extensive traveling. Management staff changes aren’t the most exciting but trades in the offseason have been numerous with a few teams locking down their 2020 roster publicly.
The list of confirmed rosters for 2020 below only includes teams that have officially announced who will be performing in 2020. Some teams have signed new talent for the 2020 season but have yet to confirm their entire roster.
L.A. Gladiators
L.A. Gladiators got hit hard in the off-season trade game but bounced back quick by picking up Roni “LhCloudy” Tiihonen from Team Giganti and more notably Ji-hyeok “birdring” Kim from the London Spitfire. With the loss of Byungho “Panker” Lee, kJunwoo “Void” Kang, and Chang-hoon “rOar” Gye, the Gladiators needed a tank that could perform up to par with SPACE, so they brought in OGE from the Dallas Fuel. The Gladiators have always had strong team support, so undoubtedly when things aren’t going their way they usually find the moral to try and turn things around.

London Spitfire
The London Spitfire lost, quite literally everyone in the off-season leaving many to question if they even had a foot in the race for 2020. Slowly but surely the Spitfire regrew their roster picking up young tank star Se-won “BERNAR” Shin from Fusion University and Sung-hyeok “Highly” Lee from the Seoul Dynasty. The London Spitfire is now home to multiple former Gen.G teammates and even more Contenders players, not to mention the few Open Division players sprinkled in. The London Spitfire might be able to make it work in their conference but might potentially get blocked out by the Toronto Defiant or Washington Justice.

Toronto Defiant
This Canadian team is getting hot and heavy bringing some homegrown talent to the team and positioning themselves for a good season. Three of their current team members competed in the Overwatch World Cup on Team Canada in what was quite possibly one of their least impressive years. Luckily, the Defiant acquired the synergetic Young-seo “KariV” Park and Brady “Agilities” Girardi to provide some padding to the roster giving them options in playstyles. One player not to be underlooked is Adam “Beast” Denton previously from Fusion University as a clever yet aggressive tank.

Shanghai Dragons
The Shanghai Dragons have earned a spot on this list not because of an official announcement, but purely by the skill, their new roster showed at the Esports Shanghai Masters. This team is going to be a strong contender going into the 2020 season as the old mixes with the new to create an unstoppable force. At least, this is the hope, and it is reminiscent of how many perceived the Seoul Dynasty’s roster during the Overwatch League’s initial year. So far though, the stacked roster seems to be making it work, now the Dragons will just need to hold their own against a heavy swinging conference.

A significant number of Overwatch League teams have made little to no changes on their rosters but have yet to make any official announcements. We can only assume that the San Francisco Shock and Hangzhou Spark are working on perfecting their current team.
