Cooman benched by Virtus.Pro

Cooman

Last month ESL decided to postpone the Los Angeles Major due to the COVID-19 outbreak. As a result, instead of a LAN DPC event, we got ESL One Los Angeles Online.

The tournament began a few days ago in some regions. However, it was yesterday that we saw the first matches in Europe and CIS. Needless to say, these are two of the most interesting regions in Dota 2 and were highly anticipated.

Virtus.Pro’s decision

One of the teams that started its journey yesterday was Virtus.Pro. Often regarded as one of the best CIS team of all time, Vladimir “No[o]ne“Minenko and his teammates will try to make their mark in this tournament after a very disappointing finish in the WeSave! Charity Play, where they were eliminated by HellRaisers.

It seems that the loss was too much to handle with VP making a hard decision to bench Zaur “Cooman” Shakhmurzaev. This very promising player was acquired by the club just two months ago from Winstrike. Even though he played well in the first few tournaments, it seems that it was just not enough this time around.

Instead of Cooman, Virtus.Pro picked Igor “iLTW” Filatov to play for the team in the ESL One Los Angeles Online. We’re not sure yet whether this will be the player who will permanently replace Cooman. According to VP’s official announcement on the situation, we will soon learn what their final decision will be, possibly directly after this event.

Be sure to watch the ESL One LA Online event. We have the opportunity to watch some of the best teams in the world battle it out, so don’t miss it.
