The Houston Outlaws Find A Home

The Houston Outlaws have finally found a home after five months of uncertainty after being acquired by Immortals Gaming Club. The team has been sold to Beasley Media Group, former investors in Renegades.

The Houston team faced the risk of not returning to the Overwatch League in 2020 if they could not find a buyer. Infinite Esports and Entertainment were the parent company for OpTic Gaming and the Houston Outlaws, but Immortals Gaming Club bought the organization in June. Immortals Gaming Club owns the Los Angeles Valiant, and League rules only allow for one team per franchise. A majority of the teams from Infinite Esports transitioned into life at Immortals, but the Houston Outlaws formerly said their goodbyes.

New Beginnings

The sale was for an undisclosed amount, but considering the approaching deadline, time was of the essence. The CEO of Beasley Media Group stated, “Our growing esports infrastructure and management combined with our experience with team Renegades, success in hosting and promoting large events and our national esports content hub — BeasleyXP — are key factors in our expectations for long-term returns from this investment. We look forward to initial contributions from this exciting development when the league’s third season begins in February.”

Houston Outlaws Overwatch purchase

The Houston Outlaws have had luck in the off-season roster shuffle picking up Jeffrey blasé Tsang, João Pedro Hydration Goes Telles and coach Harsha “Harsha” Bandi. Coach Harsha and Shane Rawkus Flaherty were a part of Team USA during the Overwatch World Cup at beginning of November. Regardless of the additions, the Houston Outlaws took a beating in Stage 4 of the 2019 OWL season. The hope is that finally being back with an organization will provide some consistency for the rockstar roster. In terms of teams, the Houston Outlaws are highly marketable and have the chance to be a pillar of success in the Overwatch franchise system.
