G2 to start P1noy for Week 4, as Perkz takes break

G2 will start veteran P1noy as Perkz takes a break from the competitive scene

G2 Esports will play Week 4 of the LEC 2020 Summer Season without superstar bot laner Luka “Perkz” Perković. Instead the team, which currently sits at 4-3 in the standings, will start Kristoffer “P1noy” Albao Lund Pedersen in his stead.

P1noy, a veteran of the scene, joined G2 as a substitute in January. During his seven year pro-career he’s played for dozens of LEC calibre teams in the starting roles. But P1noy is most famous for absolutely dunking on Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng at IEM Cologne in 2014. In the highly anticipated international event, P1noy out-classed the outspoken North American ADC as Counter Logic Gaming clashed with Gambit Gaming.

The move to start P1noy comes as Perkz takes a break from his sustained role in G2. Over the last five years, Croatian player has been the anchor of one of the most successful teams in the EU LCS and LEC. The ADC and occasional Mid Laner is a seven-time Spring and Summer Split winner, and part of the Worlds 2019 finalist roster. But recently Perkz has opened up on social media about the stress and pressure his role entails.

The well-deserved break will ideally see Perković return to his winning ways. G2 has struggled at the start of the Summer Split, as Perkz alter-ego, the mysterious and dominant Uma Jan, has failed to surface.

But with or without Uma Jan making an appearance, G2 will definitely miss the presence of Perkz. The already struggling team will now have to adapt to a new ADC in the wake of his absence. But if there’s one squad in the LEC that is a master of adaptation it’s G2 Esports.
