ESL One Hamburg 2019 Preview

ESL One Hamburg

DreamLeague Season 12 has come to an end and now it’s time to focus on the next big tournament. Sadly, ESL One Hamburg 2019 is not included in the DPC, which is a shame as it’s one of the best events in the schedule. Despite falling outside the official Pro Circuit, it will feature twelve of the best teams in the world fighting for a $300,000 prize pool.

Format

As mentioned, there will be twelve teams in total. Unfortunately, two of the directly invited teams had to be replaced due to an issue with their visas. It’s pretty sad that players still have this problem in 2019, but for now, that’s how the system works. Instead of iG and Geek Fam, the organizers invited Alliance and Wind and Rain. The fans are seriously hyped for Alliance, being one of the hottest teams in Dota right now.

The participants will be divided into two groups of six teams each. All games will be played in Bo2, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Upper Bracket. The two that finish last will be going home.

Group A

The first group has some pretty interesting names – but three of them stand out. Vici Gaming, Alliance and Virtus. Pro are among the best teams in the world. However, Dota 2 is a game where a team is only as good as its last tournament. Judging by this, it seems that Alliance is the big favourite, but that might not necessarily be the case. After all, Vici Gaming’s performance at TI 9 was excellent.

Group B

The second group in this tournament will be very interesting to watch. In theory, every team here has the potential of winning. That said, we still believe that TNC and Quincy Crew are the clear favourites.

The tournament will run from October 25 – 27 at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany. As always, be sure to watch as it has the potential to be absolutely epic. As if the teams were not enough, we will also have one of the best talents in Dota 2 right now making an appearance.
