DreamLeague Season 12 Preview

DreamLeague 12

The twelfth season of DreamLeague is about to begin in just a couple of days. Even though it’s not a DPC event, DreamLeague still has some interesting teams taking part due to the large $250,000 USD prize pool.

Let’s take a look at what to expect from the first LAN event after TI9.

Format

There will be six teams in total, four of which received direct invites, while the other two had to go through the EU & NA Qualifiers. The teams will be divided into two groups consisting of three in each. Similar to other tournaments out there, the top team will advance to the upper bracket, whereas the bottom two will have to fight for survival in the lower bracket.

After the group stage is over, the teams will play in a double elimination best-of-three bracket.

Group A

Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Demon Slayers will battle to determine who will be number one. At first glance, it seems like Team Liquid is the obvious winner. However, NiP definitely has what it takes to prove them wrong. We do however have to remember that they are still a fairly new team, with Peter “ppd” Dager completely changing the roster for this DPC season.

Group B

Group B is a little more interesting, as every team here has what it takes to win the event. That said, Alliance is still undoubtedly the strongest out of the three. They’ve been in excellent form recently, and are probably the most dangerous team at the tournament.

It’s important to note that all group stage matches will be held on one day. Whether this was the right decision is still up in the air, but by the end of the day we will know the distribution between the upper and lower brackets.

When & where to watch

You can watch all the action happening at the Ahoy Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands from DreamLeague’s Twitch channel this Friday, 18th October at 08:30 UTC. As always, we’ll be entertained by the likes of Sheever, Lacoste, ODPixel and more.
