Nearly two and a half months after The International 2019 came to an end, we finally have the first Minor of the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit, DOTA Summit 11. From November 7-10 the initial tournament in this new season of Dota 2 will give us a glimpse at eight of the teams competing in this year’s circuit.
The DOTA Summit 11 Minor is a very important event in the Dota 2 season for a couple of reasons. First, it has a very lucrative prize pool of $300,000, and second, the winner will get a chance to prove themselves at the upcoming MDL Chengdu Major, which will start in a couple of days after the Minor comes to an end.

What’s the format?
As we mentioned above, there are eight teams in total competing, who qualified through the Regional Qualifiers. They’ll be divided into two groups consisted of four teams each. Similar to the previous Minors, the top two from each group will advance to the playoffs, whereas the bottom will have to pack their stuff and head home. What’s more, every single series up to the Grand Final will be played in a Bo3 format.
Who’s the talent?
The talent panel is one of the most important aspects of any tournament. Luckily, we will have some of the biggest names here such as Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner, Grant “GranDGranT” Harris, Austin “Capitalist” Walsh and many more. On top of that, one of the most legendary casters will also make a return – David “LD” Gorman. In case you forgot, LD used to be one of the best casters before he had to take some time off for personal reasons.
Teams & Groups at the Summit
Group A
The teams that will try to make their mark here are NiP, Invictus Gaming, Jfshfh178, and paiN Gaming. At first glance, it seems like iG is the obvious favourite. After all, the Chinese powerhouse played very well in their last couple of matches in the Hainan Master Cup: Online Qualifier and China Dota2 Professional League. And it’s important to remember that they have finally managed to secure themselves a good roster after many years without.
Ninjas in Pyjamas are also among the potential winners due to their incredible players. However, ever since TI9 came to an end, the team is still struggling to unleash the full potential of their new roster. They definitely have what it takes to become one of the leading forces in the European Dota 2 scene but it’s up to them to finally start winning.
Group B
Ad Finem, Geek Fam, HellRaisers & Quincy Crew are the teams that will be battling over who advances. This is definitely going to be the more interesting group, as every single team here has the potential to end up as the winner. However, Quincy Crew and Geek Fam could be the ones to go through because both of them have excellent lineups. Sadly, similar to NiP, they still have not figured the formula to consistent success.
