Call of Duty League Launch Weekend – Day 1 Recap

Call of Duty League Launch

The first day of the brand new Call of Duty League did not disappoint, jam-packed full of storylines and world-class Call of Duty action. Let’s take a look back at what went down on day one of the inaugural Call of Duty League season:

Match 1: Chicago Huntsmen vs Dallas Empire

Chicago Huntsmen took on Dallas Empire in the first ever Call of Duty League match, and it was an exciting one to say the least. Huntsmen duo, Scump and Formal, faced old OpTic Gaming teammate Crimsix and tensions were undoubtedly running high. Big plays from Scump saw Chicago Huntsmen take the first map 250-209 in an Azhir Cave Hardpoint.

The boys from Dallas fired back with a convincing 6-1 victory in the Search and Destroy, levelling the series 1-1. As heated words were being thrown across the main stage, the Minnesota crowd provided an impressive atmosphere for this enthralling match-up.

After a strong performance in Domination and the second Hardpoint, Chicago Huntsmen closed out the series 3-1 to take the first ever win in the League. Scump and Formal did not hold back on letting Crimsix know about the outcome:

Match 2: Seattle Surge vs Florida Mutineers

Three-time world champion, Karma, returned to the mainstage under his new Seattle franchise as they took on Prestinni and co. Seattle Surge took the first map 250-198, but the series was soon tied as Florida Mutineers took the Search and Destroy 6-3. A notable clutch play from Mutineers’ Prestinni helped them to level the series 1-1:

Seattle forged a late comeback in Domination to take a 2-1 series lead, but we soon had the first game-five of the Call of Duty League on our hands as Mutineers took the second Hardpoint. The fifth map did not last long as Florida Mutineers pulled out a devastating 6-0 victory, with Prestinni and Havok dropping 19 kills combined.

Match 3: Minnesota Rokkr vs Los Angeles Guerrillas

The home team, Minnesota Rokkr, took to the main stage in the final match of the night against two-time world champion Aches and co.

LA Guerrillas took first blood as they grabbed the opening Hardpoint 250-169. However, the tables soon turned as LA were forced to forfeit the Search and Destroy due to a restricted perk being used. The home squad then took the third map in a tightly contested Domination ending 192-174.

A convincing 250-167 win in the fourth map saw the Minnesota boys take their first win of the Call of Duty League – what better way to do it than in front of a home crowd.
