WePlay! Bukovel Minor – Day 1 Recap

WePlay! Bukovel Minor

Just days into a new decade and competitive Dota 2 is already under way. WePlay!’s Bukovel Minor is the second Minor of the 2019-2020 DPC and the first of this year. This amazing tournament takes place in Ukraine, where eight of the best teams in the world are fighting for the jaw-dropping prize pool, DPC points, and a slot for the Leipzig Major that begins just a couple of days later.

With that said, let’s recap Day 1 of the WePlay! Bukovel Minor.

NiP failed to impress

Despite all the hopes that we have for NiP, they just couldn’t live up to the expectations. People went so far as to think that they could potentially be the hidden favorites. However, judging by their series against Geek Fam, this isn’t the case.

The SEA team outplayed their opponents in both games without giving them any chance to recover. Although NiP had a very solid line-up, especially in game two, their team-fight execution was just not there. On the contrary, Carlo “Kuku” Palad and his team-mates played very well and deserved their success.

Fighting PandaS are good

The second very interesting series of the day was between the ex-Team Liquid and EE’s team

Despite the fact that Nigma got a strong lead in game one, a series of mistakes led to their downfall. EternalEnvy and his team rolled-out a Drow start and once they grabbed the lead, the damage output was just too much to handle from TI 7 champions. Nigma was in the driving train in the beginning but a series of mistakes put them in a bad position. As a result, they had no other option but to call GG.

Seeing the power of this lineup, Fighting PandaS picked a nearly identical lineup. However, this time luck was not on their side. Nigma completely dominated the laning stage and secured themselves a very solid lead. As a result, the European powerhouse snowballed out of control and won the game.

The last game of the series started yet again with a lead from Nigma. Despite that, FP’s Storm Spirit combined with their PL were able to stand their ground. Once they got a couple of items, the situation for the EU team became grim.

In the end, Nigma couldn’t stay in the game anymore had to surrender.

Nigma eliminates FURIA

After Nigma failed to win against Fighting PandaS, it was time for them to fight for their survival. Although FURIA is definitely a very strong enemy, it seems like they were just not as strong as their enemies. Their Magnus draft in Game One didn’t really do much as TI 7 champions completely ripped through them.

With their backs against the wall, the South Americans gave their best in game two. However, even this was not enough to bring down the mighty Nigma. With w33ha’s Huskar by their side, the European powerhouse looked absolutely flawless in game two. They had a very solid start and completely ran over their enemies, sending them home.
