Atlanta FaZe take first place: A memorable weekend at CDL Atlanta Home Series

Faze Home series

Atlanta fans were anything but disappointed as their home side lifted the trophy on Sunday. Atlanta FaZe took a deserved win after beating Florida Mutineers 3-0 in the grand final.

Can Atlanta FaZe be stopped?

The FaZe squad of aBezy, Simp, Cellium, MajorManiak and Priestah are yet to be defeated in the CDL. With an average age of less than 20, the young guns have proved to be the team to beat in the league. Their impressive performance over the weekend showed us why they are considered the best in the game.

Both Atlanta FaZe and Chicago Huntsmen were the hot favourites heading into the weekend. The Huntsmen were coming off a convincing win in London at the start of the month. However, as FaZe did not attend the event, fans were left waiting to see the two best teams compete to prove their dominance.

Although FaZe and Huntsmen didn’t share the stage in Atlanta, it was finally proven who reigned supreme over the CDL at this point in time. Shockingly, Chicago fell short to the Mutineers in the semi-final despite being favourites to win. Atlanta had a slight scare in the semi-final, going 2-0 down to Minnesota Rokkr, but pulled off the reverse sweep to book their place in the grand final.

The FaZe boys made light work of the Mutineers in the final, defending their home territory and being crowned champions. With one win apiece for both Huntsmen and FaZe, fans await the next event where the two could meet. The players were ecstatic with their performance and praised fans for their support.

Notable moments from the weekend

The weekend gave us some exciting, shocking and touching moments. So we thought we’d provide you with just a few from CDL Atlanta.

Sadly, the Call of Duty community lost a beloved supporter, Jared “JCap” Caplin. The CDL paid tribute with a signed jersey for his father and a moment of applause around the venue for one of CoD’s biggest fans – who will be sorely missed.

In addition, many viewers were also moved by the emotional post-match interview with twin brothers Arcitys and Prestinni. The two faced off in the semi-final, with Prestinni and the Mutineers taking an unexpected win over the Huntsmen. The raw passion and emotion could be seen as they were brought to tears post-match.

One of the best moments of the tournament came in the semi-final between FaZe and Rokkr. Minnesota sent shockwaves through the arena after going 2-0 up in the series. Atlanta then put on a show for the home crowd as they fought back to win 3-2.

Here’s a look at the current CDL Points table after the Atlanta Home Series:
